How to turn off AI training in Perplexity
Perplexity Free / Pro / Max
Steps: Account settings → Preferences → turn off the 'AI data retention' toggle. Applies only to data collected after you opt out.
Why it matters: Trains by default. Opting out (Account settings → Preferences) only applies going forward, and data already collected for training can't be removed. No business contract.

Perplexity Enterprise Pro / Max
Steps: Not needed: Enterprise data is never used for training. Admins can enforce Incognito Mode and set retention under Organization Settings → Data and privacy.
Why it matters: Enterprise data is never used for training, and Perplexity's contracts bar outside model providers like OpenAI and Anthropic from training on it. Uploaded files are deleted after 7 days, admins can set retention and enforce Incognito Mode, and Perplexity offers a Data Processing Addendum and holds SOC 2 Type II.
